During a campaign stop at the Team Romney Republican-sponsored headquarters in Mesquite, Senators Orrin Hatch and Dean Heller spoke out against their political rivals and in support of the Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney in interviews with the Mesquite Citizen Journal.

"I didn't a chance to watch all of it because I had a debate right after it," Heller said about the Oct. 11 Vice-Presidential debate between Vice President Joe Biden (D) and Congressman Paul Ryan (R). "I did catch pieces of it."

"This is the way I look at it. If you had turned the sound off on your TV set, I think it would have been very clear who won that debate. I think the Vice President acted very poorly. He didn't carry himself as well as I thought a Vice President should have," Heller remarked.

"Both candidates understood the issues. You could call it a draw but I'm a little biased because I'm a big Paul Ryan fan. But, style points count a lot and in this case I would have given it to Paul Ryan," he added. "The Vice President should have acted a little better than that."

"It's great to be in Mesquite today," Heller commented about his visit. "I'll be at the Gold Butte Days Festival and then the football game tonight," he quipped about the high school rivalry game between the Virgin Valley High School and Moapa Valley High School.

Heller was on hand to greet the Romney/Ryan campaign bus as it arrived at the Republican headquarters with Utah Senator Orrin Hatch on board.

"It's nice to be with my fellow Nevadans who live right next to Utah," Hatch said about his campaign stop. "We're here to campaign for Mitt Romney and Dean Heller."

As a long time member of the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee, Hatch commented on the U.S. House of Representative's investigation of the recent terrorist attack on the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi, Libya, during which the American Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three others were killed.

"They knew right from the start that it was a terrorist incident, but they didn't represent it as such," he explained about U.S. Government officials. "It was known by the Washington Post, CNN found the diary (of Stevens), and the New York Times. That's three liberal publications that knew it was a terrorist act. They had all of the facilities and the equipment that only terrorists would have had access to. They were organized terrorists."

"It was pathetic. They (Administration officials) also knew that the man had said they were in danger and could use some help. They didn't do a doggone thing about it."

He also disagreed with the way the Obama Administration handled the attack that occurred on Sept. 11. "The White House didn't handle it well. They haven't been forthright or as honest as they could have been. Frankly, they knew it was a terrorist attack," Hatch said of the President's Administration.

"I think they were trying to get through the election. I'm for that except they ought to tell the truth."

"Romney is going to win," the longtime Senator from Utah said about the Republican candidate for U.S. President. "When people saw him debate the President, they realized that this is a man who looks Presidential, acts Presidential, and speaks Presidential. He has some brains and financial background to do something to bring this country out of its doldrums."

Hatch said President Obama was a friend of his but "basically his lifetime work has been as a community organizer. No wonder he's having trouble. The people around him are people who just aren't doing the job. We need to change that."

When the event concluded, Hatch continued on to Las Vegas, NV, riding the Romney/Ryan campaign bus.
