The following incident were taken, in part, from the Mesquite Police Department blotter for the week of Aug. 12-18. All persons involved in these incidents are presumed innocent until proven guilty by the court.
Aug 12: Animal Complaint: Animal Control Officer responded to a local parking lot for a small canine being locked inside a vehicle without food and/or water. The owner of the canine as issued a citation for endangering animals.
Aug 12: Animal Complaint: An officer was dispatched to a local parking lot for a report of four dogs left unattended in a vehicle, on a hot summer day. The owner of the animals was located and charged with animal cruelty.
Aug 13: Graffiti: An officer was dispatched to a local dog park, for a report of graffiti on a park bench. The officer took the report and forward it to city maintenance for repairs.
Aug 13: Phone Harassment: An Officer made contact with an Arizona citizen regarding harassing phone calls. The Officer attempted to find the possible suspect in Mesquite City. The Officer completed a report to be forwarded to Mohave County Sheriff's Office.
Aug 13: Business or License Problem: Officers responded to a complaint about a young male who was going door to door peddling, without a license.After an investigation an arrest for a felony arrest warrant and a misdemeanor arrest were made.
Aug 13: Theft-Bicycle: An officer took a report from a local resident of a bicycle that was taken without permission from his residence.An investigation is ongoing.
Aug 13: Citizen Assist: Officers responded to the police station, reference a citizen assist. An adult male reported several firearms he lent to a male were missing. It is unknown if the guns are stolen and the investigation is ongoing.
Aug 14: Trespassing: Officers were dispatched to a local residence for a reported intoxicated male who refused to leave the reporting party's property. The male was contacted and arrested for trespassing.
Aug 14: Controlled Substance Problem: An officer responded to a local residence for a report of suspicious activity. Following an investigation, an adult male was taken into custody on drug paraphernalia charges.
Aug 14: Mental Person: Officers were dispatched to a local street for a female walking in the roadway. Officer arrived and gave assistance to the female. Medical responded and transported her to the local hospital for medical reasons.
Aug 14: Controlled Substance Problem: An Officer stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation and a traffic offense. The officers observed some indications to drug activity, and subsequent to an investigation the adult male driver was arrested for possession of marijuana. The two passengers were released with the vehicle.
Aug 15: Disorderly Conduct: Officers were dispatched to a local park for a report of disorderly male subjects yelling and causing a disturbance. The officers arrived and were
confronted by a male adult, who attempted to strike an officer with closed fist. The subject was take to the ground and arrested.
Aug 15: Fighting: Officers responded to a fight at a local apartment complex. Officers made contact with witnesses and the parties involved. It was determined the fight was an argument, and possibly gang related.
Aug 15: Citizen Assist: Officers received information regarding a possible missing juvenile out of Canada, Saskatchewan providence.
Aug 16: Intoxicated Person: Officers made contact with an intoxicated male in the roadway and placed under arrest and booked into Mesquite Detention Center.
Aug 16: Suspicious Person/Circumstance: An officer stopped an adult male pedestrian in the roadway. Adult male was taken into custody for being intoxicated in the roadway.
Aug 16: Wanted Person: An officer located an adult male with an active no bail warrant. The adult male was taken into custody without incident.
Aug 16: Traffic Stop: Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling south on I-15. The driver was arrested on traffic violations and the passenger was arrested for
possession of drug paraphernalia.
Aug 16: Traffic Stop: Officer conducted a traffic stop for speeding and found the driver of the vehicle to be driving on a revoked Nevada Driver License. The driver was also found to be in possession of an open container of alcohol. The driver was arrested for the above mentioned violations.
Aug 17: Theft: Officer responded to a local Casino, reference the theft of a slot machine
ticket, valued at $641.55. A suspect was identified and arrested for the theft.
Aug 17: Threatening: An officer was dispatched to the Mesquite Police Department, in reference to a threat made to the reporting person. The reporting person completed a statement about a threat made to him, but refused to pursue charges and stated he just
wanted it to be documented.
Aug 17: Battery on Person: Officers responded to a threatening call at the Summerwinds Apartments Complex. Officers identified the subject but were unable to locate and arrest the offender until later that evening.
Aug 17: Trespassing: Officers located a Hispanic male sitting outside a local fast food restaurant. The male had previously been trespassed from that location. The male was
arrested for criminal trespassing.
Aug 17: Petit Larceny: Officers responded to a local apartment complex reference theft. Upon arrival officers located the subject involved. The subject was arrested him for petit larceny and booked into the Mesquite Detention Center.
Aug 17: Driving Under the Influence: An officer was dispatched to locate a possible drunk driver. The reporting person, who was following the suspected drunk driver's vehicle, stated the suspect's vehicle was swerving all over the roadway and even driving onto the sidewalks. The officer located the suspect vehicle and the driver was later arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving.
Aug 17: Noise Disturbance: Officers responded to a noise complaint, at a Riverside Road apartment complex. The Complainant requested and signed a citation against the offending parties for Breach of Peace. The offending party was issued the citation and released with a Court date.
Aug 18: Minor Gambling: Officers responded to a local casino for a report of a minor gambling. Officers contacted the male suspect and after confirming he was under 21 years old, he was cited for minor gambling.
Aug 18: Trespassing: Officers responded to a local casino referencing a trespass violator. Officers located, identified, and arrested the male subject for the violation.
Aug 18: Agency Assistance: Police located a runaway juvenile from another jurisdiction at a local casino with a male adult. The juvenile was transported to the Mesquite Detention Center, where she awaits transportation to Westcare in Las Vegas. The adult male was arrested for misdemeanor charges and booked into the Mesquite Detention
Center.
Aug 18: Domestic Trouble: An officer responded to a local residence for a report of a domestic battery. Following an investigation, an adult female was taken into custody and booked into the Mesquite Detention Center.
Aug 18: Wanted Person: Officer made contact with a male with an active warrant out of Mesquite. The male was arrested on the warrant and transported to the Mesquite Detention Center.
Aug 19: Citizen Assist: An officer stopped to speak with a motorist who was stopped at a green light, to see if the motorist was having mechanical problems. The driver explained that his interior dome light was on and he couldn't figure out why. A records check on the license plate showed the vehicle's registration was suspended. This person was later issued 2 traffic citations and given 4 different warnings.
Aug 19: Theft: Citizen called the Police to report her solar lights were stolen from her front yard.
Aug 19: Weapon Offense: Officers responded to a local apartment complex to investigate a possible weapons offense, where a gun was used to threaten someone. Officers interviewedthe complainant and the suspects. At the time of this report Officers did not
have probable cause to believe the alleged offense had occurred. A report was completed and forwarded to the investigations division.
Aug 19: Traffic Problem: Officers responded to a public street, reference a traffic problem. Officers observed an unattended locked passenger car in the middle of the roadway. Officers were unable to locate the owner of the vehicle and the vehicle was towed.
