Better Off Now?
Posting Date: 08/01/2012

Bill Lilienthal

Are you better off now than four years ago?

Has the assessed value of your home gone down?

Are you paying a great deal more for gasoline now?

Has food prices increased dramatically? (Mother Nature is partly to blame for some of the high cost.)

Do you believe small business is being unjustly treated by over regulation?

Do you think the Federal Government has unjustly and unconstitutionally interfered in individual States rights?

Do you believe the Obama Administration spends too much money frivolously?

Are you concerned about the future cost of medical care once ObamaCare is fully instituted?

Do you feel ObamaCare will diminish the quality of current medical care?

Do you feel that the millions of dollars allocated to green energy could have been spent more wisely?

Are you aware the national debt is approaching sixteen trillion dollars? (A trillion has 12 zeros.)

Do you know that each man, woman and child in the United States share of that debt is nearly $50,000.00?

Are you aware that the United States Credit Rating has been downgraded from AAA to AA+ and it is anticipated that it will again go down to AA due to slow growth of the nation's GDP?

Do you know that neither Congress nor the White House has prepared a national budget in the last three years?

When Obama was sworn in he said he would have a more open and transparent White House. Was that just more hype to make him look good?

You can’t blame Bush for all the above. His administration did have some serious problems, however he was working with a Democratic-controlled House and Senate which remained unchanged when Obama took office. That changed after the 2010 elections. Now he claims a lack of congressional cooperation for our national problems. Most of those problems have not gotten better, they are getting worse now.

I have discussed the above questions with many of my conservative friends and they all agree the answer is YES to all of them. If anyone reading this article can say NO to one or more questions, please feel free to elaborate below.

I have to say no, Bill. To over regulation of business. Once you get secretive guys like Romney in there and deregulation is the way to go, you get the bigger problems like wall street and big banks ripping everyone off. Regulation evens the playing field for the big guy and the little guy. Otherwise its corruption. And most of those other things are Congress fault not the President's. You also forgot to mention, you know why super rich Mittens Romney won't release his taxes? Because for 10 years, he paid NO taxes, zero, zilch. Check it out. But other than that, good article Bill. Oh, one last thing, most of that was Bushs fault.

According to his finances, Romney is much better off than he was 4 years ago.

What a lie, “Hasn’t paid taxes in ten years” If you care to look at his 2010 tax return you might see that you have been misled. In 2010, The Romneys paid more than $3 million in taxes on $21.6 million in mostly investment income and donated nearly $3 million to charity. And as has previously been reported, in 2011, the Romneys paid $3.2 million in taxes. How low can you go?

Mikee, the “rumor” that Mitt paid -0- in taxes for 10 years was for 10 years prior to 2010. You call it a lie, but you really don’t know if it is a lie any more than I know it’s the truth! Of course it would be really easy for Mitt to put all this to rest by simply coming clean with the citizens of the country he wants to lead – but he continues to refuse to do so even though his own father set a standard of 12 years of tax return disclosure when HE ran for President. What the heck is Mitt hiding? As long as he refuses to show us where and how he earned (?) his huge fortune, the rumors and investigations will continue to swirl and you nor anyone else can legitimately defend his secrecy. Regarding the $3 Million he donated to “charity”, that was primarily to the Mormon Church. As the recent cover story in Bloomberg/Business Week magazine (hardly a “leftist” publication) pointed out, the best estimates are that the Mormon church donates 0.007% (that’s less than 1%) of its annual income to charity, so excuse me if some of us don’t fully share the view that Mitts Money was donated to a real charity. In fact, the Mormon church donated less to charity in the past 25 years than it spent to recently build the new downtown mall in Salt Lake City. While YOU may choose to blindly believe Mitt, many of us would simply like him to provide documentation about his business practices so we can make a measured judgment about his character. If he wants to keep his past a secret he shouldn’t be running for President.

Sorry, I wrote it wrong. I should have said for the 10 years from 2000-2010. Check your facts again. And I guess the real question should be are the rich doing better than they were four years ago. And the answer would be yes, yes, yes. Romney is just like Nixon. Lie and hide everything. Off shore accounts remember?
