The Department of Athletics & Leisure Services will provide various activities for the whole family at the Senior/Community Center and the Recreation Center on Wednesday, July 4.
The festivities begin at the Senior/Community Center with a Pancake Breakfast. The local Elks Lodge along with the newly forming Virgin Valley Little league Baseball organization will have a pancake breakfast fundraiser for the league from 7:30am – 9:30am. Bring the family and fill up before all the action begins at the Recreation Center.
The Recreation Center will open on the Holiday at 10am with activities starting shortly thereafter. At 10:30am – 11:30am there will be Basketball Skills competition that includes a 3 point shootout, a Hot Shot Competition, and a Skills challenge course. The event is set up so every age and ability will be able to compete and have a fun time.
From 11:00am – 2:00pm the outdoor pool will be hosting many
fun activities that include water balloon tosses, watermelon football, contests, races against the lifeguards, music, with Snow Cones, candy, Face Painting, chips and soda available for purchase.
“The event is always a lot of fun and the family can come enjoy the open swim and other activities during the heat of the day,” said Nick Montoya, Superintendent.
From there, the action moves to the Eureka Hotel and Casino where a Backyard BBQ inside the Experience Buffet is available from 3:30 to 8:00 pm. A Community Vendor Village along with pre-fireworks entertainment will entice the crowds. A Charity Hot Dog Eating Contest starts at 6:45 pm.
The main entertainment of the evening begins at 8:00 pm with a concert by the Nevada Pops Symphony in the parking lot behind the Eureka. The night closes out with Fireworks accompanied by the Nevada Pops starting at 9:00 pm.
