TUESDAY: MEYER BREAKS LONG DROUGHT WITH NICE 75

Well John, evidently those lessons you paid for are paying dividends. After struggling with his game for what must have seemed like years, Meyer went out on Tuesday at Falcon Ridge and turned in a very steady round of 37-38-75 to win medalist honors over Neil Hendricks 37-40-77. Paul LeVan and Frank Thomasino both turned in 79’s. Joel Reilly continues to turn in good rounds. Today was one more with a 47-43-90 that netted him a sweet net 62 for first place. Bob Chambers (80) and Ben Bishop (82) were tied for second with their net 67’s. Chambers earned second with his three pars on the first three handicap holes while Bishop shot par, par, double bogey for third. Both Jim Anderson and Russ Clark scored gross 92 and net 68’s but Anderson grabbed the last spot when he had a bogey on #13 to Clark’s double bogey.

APERCU’S: Frank Thomasino had the hole of the day on number one. He hooked two drives against the Wal Mart wall only to find that his first one bounced off and landed half way up the hill. From there he pushed his second shot over to the right in the hazard hitting something and bouncing back on to the course. “I really got tapped, the ball didn’t even get back in the fairway” Thomasino was overheard saying going up to his ball. Whatever! Anyway he knocked his wedge to within four feet and made par.

THURSDAY:

CHAMBERS EDGES JOHNSON BY ONE SHOT

Sterling Johnson is proving that there is no place like a home course. After his recent superb round of 75

on the Canyons today he shot a 36-40-76 aided by birdies on 4, 8, and 18. But today Bob Chambers had something to say about low medalist. With back-to-back birdies on #5 and #6 he shot a one over par 36 and followed that with a great 39 on the back to beat Johnson by one stroke. Great rounds guys! John Meyer’s golfing instructions seem to be paying dividends as he shot his second straight solid round of 75 on Tuesday and a 79 today. The foursome of Ben Bishop (81), Terry Gardner (81), Bubba Petrick (80) and Bob Gallihugh (80) had the most competitive group. Fourteen of the 22 players shot net par or better. The best of them was Johnson with a net 62. Two shots back was Meyer with net 64. Three players tied for the last two spots with net scores of 65. They were Gardner, Jim Anderson (87) and Courtney Larsen (91). Gardner earned 3^rd with a nice par on #6. Anderson shot double bogey- bogey to grab the last spot from Larsen as he shot double bogey – double bogey.

APERCU’S: Since no one claimed anything better, the hole of the day went to “Smitty” Huetter on #18. His second shot “blazer” shot over the green and landed behind a tree. Standing behind the tree he chipped up and rolled it 13 feet past the pin to only sink the come back putt for a nice par.
